Affiliate Membership The Hospitality Association is a non-profit voluntary industry organisation whose membership exceeds 2,300 members, with members coming from across the hospitality industry including cafe bars, taverns, country hotels, restaurants, bottle stores through to larger accommodation establishments.
The Association's main objective is to Add Value to Our Members' Businesses. We undertake a number of activities to achieve this aim:
- Member Purchasing Benefits - a comprehensive range of discounts for HANZ Members with Westpac banking, Marsh insurance, Telecom and many more.
- Legal Advice and Resources - Employment Relations, Liquor Licensing and much more.
- Advocacy and Lobbying - at a central and local government level on any significant issue affecting our members and our industry.
- Liaison and Networking with industry stakeholders and regulators including Police, ALAC, Local Authorities, Public Health Units, Hospitality Standards Institute, training providers and so on.
You are invited to be an Affiliate Member of the Hospitality Association of New Zealand. "Affiliate membership" gives individuals and organisations who do not meet "Member" criteria the opportunity to be kept abreast of the Association's activities and changes in the industry, as well as taking advantage of Affiliate Member benefits. We firmly believe that becoming an Affiliate Member will add value to your business for the following four good reasons:
- You conduct business with HANZ members and it is very important and advantageous for you to know what the Association is doing, what is on and where the industry is at. This information is supplied via the monthly HANZ newsletter ServiceLine and other direct communication.
- There are a number of HANZ deals available to Affiliate Members which may well be of direct benefit to your business's bottom line. Unless you are affiliated with another trade organisation you may not have access to deals which could save you more than the cost of your membership - the likes of the Westpac credit card commission rate of 1.39% and 1.54% and Eftpos terminal rental and purchase scheme, HANZ Telecom special rates (including discount on mobile phone plans), Bond and Bond, Noel Leeming and Big Byte, OfficeMax, plus an excellent insurance deal through Marsh with HANZ Insurance Solutions, plus many others.
- Your membership of HANZ adds strength to our lobbying on issues which will relate to your business, such as the Holidays Act, Occupational Safety and Health, compliance costs and other business related matters.
- The opportunity to include one A4 promotional sheet (per year) in a mail out to members, at an additional cost. This is an opportunity to make your mark directly with HANZ membership, which is only available to HANZ Affiliate Members.

- Legal Advice and Information (including Employment Relations is not offered as part of Affiliate membership.
- There is a network of 21 HANZ Branches throughout New Zealand. Some Branches run seminars, sporting and social activities. Membership of HANZ (nationally) is a pre-requisite to Branch membership, and some Branches have an additional subscription.
- Acceptance of Affiliate membership does not mean that HANZ is endorsing a particular Affiliate Member's goods or services.
The subscription rate for Affiliate membership is $618.00 (excluding GST) per annum, our financial year being 1 August to 31 July.

1. Can you meet the criteria for stepping up from Affiliate membership status to HANZ Partner status?
A HANZ Partner is a business which offers HANZ members a discount or benefit which usually must meet all of the following criteria:
- Holds financial Affiliate Member status.
- Unique and/or exclusive.
- Significant in the magnitude of benefit and/or attraction to HANZ members.
- Nationally available.
- Conveniently and consistently accessible to HANZ members.
- Fits with the HANZ brand and objectives.
- Is offered by a reputable and sound business.
- Is not in conflict with any existing partnership arrangement.
The appeal for Partners to offer a discount usually includes:
- The ability to directly, conveniently and effectively access their target market.
- The positive aspect of being a business associated with an organisation that is a well respected industry leader with significant membership.
- The promotion of their product or service by our Regional Managers when meeting with members.
- Ongoing promotion of the HANZ web site, in new member packs, on updates to flyers members and so on.

2. Are you interested in finding our more about sponsorship of Hospitality Showcase or Awards for Excellence? The Association runs a highly successful and highly regarded annual conference called Hospitality Showcase which includes the Awards for Excellence Dinner. A range of options exist for becoming involved as a sponsor of these exists.
3. Would you like to consider having a display or trade site at our Trade Expo? A trade expo is run in conjunction with Hospitality Showcase each year and offers an excellent opportunity for suppliers to showcase their products to HANZ members.
