Operation Nightstand The City Transport Accord has introduced Operation Nightstand which will activate the five city night time taxi stands which were set up last year. The public have continued to park in these allocated areas so Operation Nightstand will proactively ensure that cars will not park in these areas. Posters about the operation are available from Susan Biss or you can download the PDF versions as listed below.
The Transport Accord has commenced Operation Nightstand, with the aim of activating the five central city night time Taxi Stands, which were set up late last year.
Unfortunately, the public have continued to use the Nightstands for parking, which has prevented taxis using them to their full extent.
Operation Nightstand has commenced with an education campaign, which is comprised of:
· advertisements placed in the local media
· delivering posters and pamphlets advertising the locations of the Stands, to bars and businesses which operate at night
· placing pamphlets on vehicles which are parked on the Stands at night
· PDF versions of the posters are available to be downloaded here: Operation Nightstand or Operation Nightstand with Map
The education campaign will continue until mid June. The second, enforcement phase of the Operation has commenced since late May comprising of a series of joint-agency enforcement operations.
